Just got off the phone with Yamaha Costumer Support about my oil drinking
Max. I cannot say enough about them. I was really surprised!!! They said
that even though the bike is 6 months out of warrantee they will eat the
repairs if I can get Rio Yamaha to claim that the damage is not my fault but
the bike's. My starter switch would not return when pushed. Since I took it
apart and removed the uncoiled return spring, Rio Yamaha said that I caused
the problem. They need to see the spring before they will testify to Yamaha
that it was the bikes fault. Well, that spring now lives in the darkness of
a New Mexico night somewhere off of I-25! I guess I am going to have to eat
that. Yamaha is going to cover an oil change to regular R4 let me run the
bike 3000 miles and check the level for free and proceed from there. They
said don't worry about the warrantee time element "we will make it right."
HOLY $HIT!! There is one company that actually does care about customers. I
had to call for myself though, Rio Yamaha has a great mechanic but the shop
is more concerned with cranking out new bikes than my problem. I got the
number to Yamaha customer support if you guys need it. The rep even had Rio
Yamaha on one line and me on the other, to get the story straight.
