Ray, did you also measure venture chamber volume?
No, I did not. It was not relevant to me as I
was installing Max heads on a 1300 Venture motor. I calculated that this
combination resulted in about a 9.0:1 compression ratio. Incidentally,
visually the Max and the Venture heads look very similar despite different valve
sizes.
also pin placement in piston?
I had a Max piston and a friend had the pistons out of
a Venture motor. We compared (over the internet) piston pin heights and
they were the same.
also vmax cams have larger overlap than the
ventures.
You bet they do. The Venture cams have very
steep ramps and pointed peak compared to the Max cams. No clearance
problems between Max valves and Venture pistons, even though the Venture piston
valve reliefs are a bit shallower than the Max's. The overlap will have an
effect upon true compression ratio. When I measured my combustion chambers
I was expecting a higher number than 10.5:1, the advertised compression
ratio.
