Today, I started my 1500cc project bike and it fired up first try! Been
working on it about a year and half as time and money was available. With
the supertrapp slip ons the sound is deep and somewhat loud. Quite
different from the factory noise. In addition, two plumes of white smoke
are coming from the exhausts, but I'm thinking this will cease as the engine
settles in. Any comments welcome. The heads were completely reworked so I
don't think it's burning oil. I installed a stage 1 kit, so thinking it may
be rich. After idle warm-up the plugs were tan color. Haven't run on the
road yet, still have to install the rear end, clutch, rear brake, etc.
Here's what I did at a cost of about $2500 with no charge for my labor!
1500 cc piston and sleeve kit; stage one; K&N air filter; cams/heads
reworked; heavy duty timing chains; supertrapp slip ons. Can't wait to get
it on the road!
