Rich, I too like Tyler found the Venom X lacking a little bit in the
rain but not bad unless I was pushing it . I found also that it would
break loose on dry pavement when dragging the pegs or at the point where
your boots scrape the pavement . It was really bad when my wife was on
the back and she only weighs 110 lb. . The tire's life is a little short
. I got only about a 1000 miles out of it . That is with a lot of abuse.
I've had tires that went twice the distance with just as much abuse .
Not much tread . On the other hand it looks good and the workmanship is
good as far as balance and being true .
I just mounted a Metzler ME 880 at the recommendation of Don Smith .
So far I'm impressed with this tire but I haven't had the chance to push
it yet .I did take it up to the redline in high gear and it ran true .
Weather permitting I will find out if it sticks on Sunday . The tread
is deep like the Pirelli but has a better profile .
Because of my abusiveness and through a family connection that I can
obtain any tire I want at cost I've tried out a few tires . I have tried
the Bridgestone Exedra , Avon Venom X, Pirelli MT66 Route, Dunlop K591 &
now the Metzler . So far the Pirelli has been the best all around tire
for grip and tread life . All the tires have been 150/90/15 except the
Pirelli was a 170/80/15. The Exedra,Avon & Dunlop were V rated tires .
The Pirelli & now the Metzler are a H rated tire . Of course this is all
based on my bike & riding style .
Hope this helps
Eric H.
