Kraig,

That goes along with what the dealer told me about oil. He said to run
Yamalube 4 for the first 5000 miles, then switch to Yamalube R4
semi-synthetic($6.00qt) for the life of the bike. Says the semi-synth R4
doesn't mess with the clutch, and doesn't have the oil usage problem. I
figure, what the hell, I'll run what the manufacturer says and see what
happens, for about 50,000 miles??? I really want to run some exotic
synthetic.............................don't want the
problems..................................

Subject: Been gone

Hey guys I have been gone for the last six weeks doing the work
thing. I am sorry if I did not respond to any e:mail sent my way
or have any input for the list but I was in a situation where I
could not send mail of an non HITP format.

In case you have not followed my saga, I have the Max that eats
about a quart every 500 miles. I put it into Rio Yamaha in Las
Cruses New Mexico and they seem to think it is a oil ring problem.
They filled the case with regular Yamaha 4 oil and now my Max only
drinks a quart every 2,000 miles. They said to run the Yamaha 4 for
5,000 miles and see if the oil consumption goes down or up. They
seem to think since I used synthetic oil for the life of the bike,
the ring never did seat. The saga continues!
