r910 fixes these errors, and d8 with readline builds and works.
for the record, the version of readline in my gentoo distro is

sys-libs/readline-5.2_p12-r1 was built with the following:
CFLAGS="-D_GNU_SOURCE -O2 -march=athlon64 -msse3 -pipe"
CXXFLAGS="-D_GNU_SOURCE -O2 -march=athlon64 -msse3 -pipe"
