Benchmarking is hard, one-liners are pretty much guaranteed to be useless
or even misleading. See http://jsperf.com/unknown-hash-key/3 for an attempt
to focus more on the issue in question and less on various kinds of
overhead and contortion.
That said, adding properties is slower than overwriting them. This is
expected.
