I can't really answer that question, but in ES5 these two forms are going
to be almost
identical. If your benchmarking shows that it matters then we should have
a compiled
regexp cache. We probably should anyway. Feel free to file a new bug if
performance
turns out to be an issue.
I guess I should do something about this land mine.
