Comment #3 on issue 885 by [email protected]: Unify Visual Studio projects, leveraging ability of having multiple target architectures inside a project.
http://code.google.com/p/v8/issues/detail?id=885

The Visual Studio project files are very helpful to developers who are embedding v8 in a Visual Studio project, and perhaps less useful to v8 hackers. I would guess that the 2005 auto upgrade to 2010 will work OK, so it may be practical to continue to maintain just one set of consolidated project files.

However if the Visual Studio build files can be generated (and particularly if automatically as part of post-commit) then that would be clearly superior to the current situation.

In the meantime, I will be trying to make a consolidated project as part of a v8 branch used by http://javascriptdotnet.codeplex.com/. I will report back.
