Sounds like you're passing soname=on to the SCons build. It's a known fact
that that is broken, but since the SCons build is deprecated, it's unlikely
to be fixed.
Please use the GYP/make based build. Detailed instructions are coming up
soon-ish; the short version is "make ia32.release component=shared_library".
I'm changing the status to "WorkingAsIntended", which is a bit of a
misnomer, read it as "WontFix".
