I've just taken a look at this and I don't understand what the issue is.
standalone.gypi does #define WIN32, and is used by the build/gyp_v8 script
to generate MSVS project files. What build workflow are you using that
breaks this?
I guess we could move the definition to common.gypi without bad side
effects, but I'd like to understand the necessity before doing so.
