Further testing reveals that it's not a garbage collector issue at all. The
new prime suspect is the developer tools' network event capturing feature
that appears to hold the full payload of all network I/O in memory for
inspection.
Disabling the developer tools entirely by setting "devtools": { "disabled":
true }, however, has no effect on the memory leak. Instead, it makes things
worse by depriving users of their emergency memory release button (F12).
Question for the experts: Is there any way to disable network request
payload capturing?
