confusingly ignore toString

Please note the second alternative I originally mentioned — “that the
representation of the object _not_ be the same as Object.prototype.toString
would produce, to avoid this confusion.” For example, even "#<Object>" (if
that makes sense in your general notation) would be better than "[object
Object]".
