crashing

I'm using JSON object in a Node.js script,
and the following code crashes my script:
JSON.parse('{ "i": ["\\.s"] }');
The given error is:
undefined:1
{ "i": ["\.s"] }
^
SyntaxError: Unexpected token .
Any idea why it's crashing?
