Would you be willing to accept a few patches to the build scripts to ensure compatibility with python 3.x while maintaining existing compatibility?
I think I could also clean up the dependency download on windows and get rid of the majority of the issues mentioned in the comments on the wiki page by adding a prerequisite checking section at the beginning of the build and giving some poignant feedback.
