So maybe next time, > start working on your assignments not just right before the deadline... > You are absolutely right. But let me say: The lectures advisor does a great job - this is not his problem - I decided to work on this by knowing about this is not a paper they would select for a student. It was more about a vision knowing about what direction JavaScript should do further evolution and I like to put in my two cents. I started working on that last year and read about 20 related papers. The paper I discuss didn't publish its V8 extension or removed it from the project website - don't know. After asking the author I got the code (finally) - with the comment it wasn't prepared to be published. Each step took time and also I tried things myself before I asked. This all happens in parallel to other exams. There are still some days and it is only a paper not a degree paper (I am a post graduated). And what I am doing here is only diligence work not required. It is still diving deeper for understanding how it works to become an expert - the paper only talks about the basics for arguments and explaining its idea. I like to get deeper into V8 after that task - is there any up to date documentation about internals of V8 (something your would give an intern to become a useful developer)? I read many comments in the code but if there is a documentation which is describing the decision V8 is doing about compiling which is useful for being cited ... this would be a great gift (I do not mean the wiki... and linked unofficial docs are from 2013). > > best > -jochen > > On Sun, Mar 13, 2016 at 9:54 PM Daniel B. <[email protected] > <javascript:>> wrote: > >> Hello everybody, >> >> I am a student and currently taking my first looks into V8 - especially >> into an older version 4.4.0.0 (include/v8-version.h) which has an >> experimental extended x86_64 JIT compiler. >> But I cannot find a matching version which I can use to diff with Meld to >> find the experimental changes. >> Because I know the changes are done in the x86_64 JIT, I need to know >> which file it is exactly. >> >> You can help me either by clarify whether there is a 4.4.0.0 version or >> this seams to be a non existing version what means it is not the best idea >> to compare against a branch like 4.3 or 4.4.1 >> >> Or by naming the path to the file the person might mean by saying >> "changes are done in the x86_64 JIT". >> >> Hope I get quick feedback because I am under time pressure (students ;) >> ...) and I do not expect I will get response from that person before my >> deadline.. >> >> Thanks, >> Dan >> >> -- >> -- >> v8-users mailing list >> [email protected] <javascript:> >> http://groups.google.com/group/v8-users >> --- >> You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups >> "v8-users" group. >> To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an >> email to [email protected] <javascript:>. >> For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout. >> > -- -- v8-users mailing list [email protected] http://groups.google.com/group/v8-users --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "v8-users" group.
