Digi-Key (www.digi-key.com) makes up battery pack inserts at reasonable prices. They also carry individual ni-cads with tabs welded on (though connecting them in series while side by side can get overly interesting without some artful tab bending, e.g. smoking tabs). I hear that some of the corner "batteries -r- us" stores claim the same capabilities, that of welding tabs and straps to stock cells. You can't solder to the cells because of the metal and you shouldn't try because of the pressure seals. Gerald J.
