Joy Hansen makes a very good point, namely there are too many variables for anecdotal info to be very useful. Also, it's how the rig performs under duress that counts. [This is also my criteria for purchasing a car!] This would be a good problem for a college mechanical engineering student. A computer model could be constructed and validated which would be capable of predicting the performance of various weight trailers, tow vehicles, wheel bases etc. One would only have to enter the pertinent variables to get a quantified performance prediction.
