Polish is not something in Poland. There are over a dozen types and kinds of polish for Aluminum. I initially used DuPont 303S, because Bud Cooper used that polish back in 1996 at the International rally in Rapid City, SD. Since then, many different kinds and grades have been used with different degrees of success. The Dupont is good, but no longer available. 3M makes a 3 step polish available at some auto paint stores. After I tried Rolite AP300, no other polish could even come close. The Rolite is available in several grades. Recently, Nu Vite has entered the fray with an acceptable polish. Your best bet is to try what you have available, and compare the results. Met All did not work for me. Rolite, NuVite, and Dupont all worked well. Rolite is of course, the best and most expensive. About $35 or $45 a can (pound?) Try them all, and decide for yourself. I think a key to polishing success is , (1) temperature and humidity. It should be above 55 degrees F, and relatively low humidity. In other words, a nice day. If it is too hot, or too cold, or too damp, it will be hard to polish, anything. (2) Your pads should be clean and fluffy. (3) If using a rotary buffer, the slower RPM's are good for cutting, then around 3,000 RPM for finish. The ideal buffers are 3600 RPM. Lastly, get a feel for the pressure and stroke. Then have at it and please, wear a mask, or air filter. Be prepared to get real dirty, and admire your finished product.
