I have been reading all of this dialog on battery charging and the panning of the Univolt converter. If one were to replace the Univolt with a modern design, what would be a good choice? What would one cost? I assume we would be looking for a charger which can operate at a slightly elevated voltage (14 volts or so) to charge a low or discharged battery, and then switch to a lower voltage to prevent cooking the battery once the battery is fully charged. With modern electronics, there should be a number of devices on the market which would work. However, my guess is that there are only a few well made, reliable ones. What do the new Airstreams use? How difficult would it be to convert and old Univolt?
