Even when a backup light doesn't produce enough light to see by, it can
be seen as a warning to those behind the trailer that you are planning
to back up or actually are backing.

Car backup lights of the 60s (when supplied) were more indicators than
illuminators.

Might be a good application for the mini 12 volt quartz reflector lamps
sometimes used in spot lighting for houses. To convert an indicator to
an illuminator. Heat can be a problem though.
