I buy 4x4 sheets of 5052 aluminum from Mcmaster -Carr
online. Fast and easy. Somewhere around here I have a
picture that shows a 5000 series stamp on the inside
face of the exterior airstream skin panel ( made in
france! ). 2024 is used for aircraft because of its
weldability. It is 3 times as expensive as 5052. I
believe 5052 is more corrosion resistant more workable
and less brittle.
