My plan is to document every step of the way with
much written detail and photos - loading the info
online as I go (we'll see how THAT goes after
hours of frustration and hard work each day).
My photo site will have links to the composting
toilet and solar Web sites for those of you
interested - should have the raw version up in a
couple days.
As Bill noted... yes, the solar system I am
planning is quite spendy (about $2k) and the
composting toilet by comparison seems outragious
(about $1,200). I've done a lot of research on
both of these topics (originally for a home
planted in the dirt). Just think. I'm doing this
full-time for at least 1 to 2 years (maybe more).
The solar system will pay for itself in a few
months since I will NEVER have to hook up to
shore. If I do hook up to shore I can charge my
batteries that way, too. And the freedom to NEVER
have to dump black water is priceless to me. This
is "new school" thinking and obviously not for
everyone.
