Large tires take away from towing thrust. They counteract the higher
ratio axle gears. They also raise the truck frame and so require a
larger drop hitch assembly which has to be heavier to be strong enough.
And they make the speedometer tend to read low unless the speedometer
gears have been changed to match both the gear and the tire changes.

The radiator for the diesel might not be all the 454 needs, because the
diesel probably was a little bit more efficient at using fuel and so
wasted less in heat.
