While I am an advocate of not placing extra weight on the rear bumper, I
think that you should know that the rear bumper is a popular place for the
spare tire. My 1960 Overlander came from the factory with a spare mounted on
the rear. It has not caused any problems that I am aware of, and this
trailer has seen many, many miles.
