Actually a Jeep is softly sprung to give a lot of compliance with irregular terrain. It can't roll over boulders and ruts well with stiff springs. That makes an equalizer hitch more important to keep the headlights out of the trees and some weight on the front tires for effective steering and braking. Gerald J.
