Ordinarily, I'M the purveyor of hare-brained ideas on this list, so it may
seem odd for me to be taking this position, but i will nevertheless:
Don't do it, at least not to a vintage Flying Cloud.
If you must, however, I believe there are some postings in the archives of
this or the 'modern' (Hunter's) Airstream list regarding fifth-wheel
modifications, by which means only the trailer tongue is modified.
Actually, I would think a newer, longer/heavier model would make a much
better candidate for a fifth-wheel modification.
Just one opinion...
