If the automatic doesn't shift a lot while towing in overdrive, its
probably OK. If it shifts a lot, it may not survive well.

I tow a Caravel with my F-150 and 4.6L V-8 in overdrive with a manual
transmission just fine. But I put 4.10 gears in the back axle so its
like a 3.08 axle in straight high (4th gear).
