Ok...

We have been reading the postings for a year and are starting to look
around. I spotted the following Airstream. So what does the group think ?
It a 26 footer enough ? In the case of the one for sale in the link below,
what is good and what is bad ? Is the price reasonable ?

I look forward to your comments. For context I have included our original
e-mail to the list.

Thanks,
James & Sondra.

Subject: Introducing James & Sondra and our Fantasy...J&S2015

Hello all,

My partner Sondra and I are a couple who live in San Francisco and are
thinking of buying an Airstream. We live and rent in an area of SF that has
housing costs in the stratosphere. We make good money, but spending 750K
for a fixer-upper is not our idea of a good time. As long as rent control
is in affect we have a good gig. All good things do come to an end. With
that reality in mind we are looking toward our future and a chance to get
off the corporate tread mill at some point.

We are considering spending the next 5 or so years putting together the
Airstream of our dreams with the tow vehicle of our dreams. At some point
15 years hence, we retire, are drive off into the sunset.

What I would ask of this group, is to help educate us on Airstreams. I
figure 1 year to educate us and choose a model. 1 year to look for and find
a core Airstream. 5 years to fully take the Airstream apart and built it
back together to our specifications. 3 years to customize and restore our
proposed tow vehicle. 5 years to driving it around on weekends and
vacations to get used to it. Then, sell everything we own and off into the
sunset of our lives.

I was a serious high school motorhead and have done serious restorations on
many different kinds of cars. So at a technical level, I am very advanced.

I would ask that anyone sending any comments or replies use the following in
the subject "J&S2015". That way, I can trap on it and keep the replies in a
separate folder. Thank you all in advance and we look forward to including
you in our adventure.
