Hi Judy!
The unit when working was very effluent---it made all tailpipes rust out 
before their time.  Stainless steel  tail pipes and mufflers did help solve 
that problem but proved to be pretty darn costly. It was an option available 
on the 73-78 era GMC motorhomes.
