Change the trailer plug. There's never going to be agreement on the old
connections and adding a connector in a circuit that tends to be
disrupted by corrosion means reliability can only be worse. And in the
process, its easy to install a new plug and solve some of the corrosion
instantly.

The connection diagram for my '68 manual shows the same wire colors by
function but different pin connections at the plug.
