Title: Re: [VAC] Re: Burning Man needs A/C
Here’s something I’ve heard of, although I haven’t tried it myself.  If you have a Fantastic Vent or similar vent fan, turn the whole trailer into a swamp cooler by hanging wet towels on the windows and turning on the fan in exhaust mode.  I assume they mean thin towels, like old fashioned linen dish towels.  Seems like it would help, in a very dry climate.   I imagine I will try it sometime, if/when the opportunity presents  itself.

What exactly is a swamp cooler? How does it work? Where can you find one?

google: evaporative cooler

http://www.google.com/search?as_q=&num=100&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=evaporative+cooler&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&safe=off

or, more specifically, "PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION OF AN EVAPORATIVE COOLER"

it cools the air by blowing air through a moistened cloth or filter. Works great in arid climates like deserts which are hot and dry.

Don't try it in Atlanta. :)
