Hello, If you want one piece of advice, I will say.
create your own machine for docker, and install the docker binary for osx. use any linux you feel comfortable with. back to your problem, you have a chicken egg here, the vms the vagrant is trying to use don't run in the vmware you have, so, if you can upgrade and fix it, then you should be able to use it. i know you have vmware and you paid for the plugin, but, can you try virtualbox? most of us use virtualbox, so if you run in troubles will be easier for me reproduce and help you. You can also open a bug in the github/mitchellh/vagrant as say the machines seems not to be updated. some kind words here, once you overcome this chicken egg, you will end using your own templates/machines, etc, and you will look back and smile.
