without getting to technical, what I can say is the cpu of some mobile
devices is not very fast, and some tablets came with disk encryption by
default.

I do have an asus t100, i can't even start virtualbox.

being said that.. try to find out what's causing the slow down.

at the guest run htop and iotop

this will show you waht's top CPU and top hdd hog

try a 32bit machine if possible to test if goes any faster.

Does your surface allow run hyper-v ? is matter of testing.
