Hello, Try to setup a Bridge or host-only network on the VM, and that connection *should* be always available locally.
if doesn't, then the VPN routing part is to blame.. Some VPN setup do a too aggressive configuration that may include overwrite dns to use an internal/over_the_vpn dns, and send all the traffic over the vpn. if this is the case you should talk to the vpn admin and ask for a more relaxed setup. I am afraid that this is caused by the vpn setup, and not a vagrant issue.. Alvaro.
