based on this, i will say:

vmware workstation/fusion if you can spare the license of both products

otherwise, look at vagrant plugins for vsphere/esx and test vmware
ESXi, as both are free (plugin and vmware esxi)

vmware i think is the easiest way to make this a less PITA.
