Hello, i think you need apt-get update before the apt-get install. however1, the version of virtualbox in ubunt is quite old.
You may want to download the .deb directly and install https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads however2, you shouldn't be able to run virtualbox inside a ec2 instance some nested virtualization work, but virtualbox nested I don't think will work. you may have some chances running a 32bit VM, but there is no guarantee. Can you share what you need to do? Docker, LXC XEN PVM may work inside ec2 may work Alvaro.
