>>Groupware
I just spent some time loading and looking at PLONE. It lives on top of
Zope...which lives on top of Python, so you can use Python to tweak it. I
think it would qualify as Groupware, as it is a content management system
with a lot of options and modules that allow collaboration.

But then I've looked at a *lot* of groupware over the years, but somehow
never seemed to get too excited about any of it. What seems to have actually
worked, and users have actually used are some of the more lightweight web
applications, We've used Basecamp on several projects, and I've used the
Google docs when doing collaborative writing. A wiki seems to work well for
many people.

Once I had set up elaborate projects using SharePoint, those
bombed....people just didn't log in and use it. Also happened with a
basecamp project that I had set up for a class at Champlain. Sheesh, if
students won't use groupware...who will?

Maybe it is just the wrong audience... The few successes were with
distributed groups that were accountable for getting real work done under
deadline.

So, I'd love to hear more about people who are using groupware effectively.
