Hi all,

We are wondering if anyone in the area has use for a Quad PIII Xeon 500
~or~ Dual PIII Xeon 550 server with, let's say, 2GiB of RAM, 3 hot-swap
power supplies (With 3 spares), onboard graphics, a network card, a six
bay hot-swap SCA SCSI cage, with let's say between 4 and 6 bays filled
with variously sized SCSI disks?

We have two of these machines that were decommissioned and I was going
to put the best parts of the pair into one of the machines, recycle the
other, and donate the good one to charity or personal use or whatever.
If I donate it to a charity or reasonably benevolent small business,
I'll build it all myself and put some form of Linux on it if desired, so
as to boot my good karma.

If someone wants it for personal pleasure, they can (and will) do the
assembly themselves.

It weighs probably 70-80lbs and does use a fair chunk of electro-juice.

Intel Chipset SC450NX or CG440GX (or something like that). Lots of PCI
slots, no AGP.

Location is in Montpelier Vermont. I won't do delivery unless you beg
really nicely. Otherwise, one could pick it up by prior arrangement
between 9 and 6 most days of the week.

I've run Linux on the machine fine - fully compatible. The quad was
originally my personal BeOS Box - so it runs BeOS fine too. The Dual was
a Winblows SQL Server for a long-arse time, and I had a short seizure
where I played with Win2k3 sever on my quad - so it is all Winblows
compatible, though I won't install such for the future owner, if there
is one. I tried to sell the quad on eBay a while ago, but the things
depreciated so much it would cost more to ship it than I could sell it
for. But, if someone wants it and is willing to give me some money for
it, I'd love that.
