Namely, Groundworks Monitor Community Edition to "manage 1000's of devices across large distributed environments" along with an announcement that colleges and universities will soon have at their disposal an enterprise suite of management/administrative applications called Kuali. For ERP activities like finance and grants, designed to be collaborative and comparable to Sakai; which (surely everyone knows) is a FOSS application for edu purportedly containing: Collaboration tools Announcements, Drop Box, Email Archive, Resources, Chat Room, Forums, Threaded Discussion, Message Center, Message Of The Day, News/RSS Teaching Tools Assignments, Grade book, Module Editor, QTI Authoring, QTI Assessment, Section Management, Syllabus (and a whole lot more:), Of course, its java; and other candidates like Alfresco or Drupal even, might be more suited. http://source.sakaiproject.org/release/2.3.0/sakai_2-3-0/sakai-src_2-3-0.tar.gz (my link may not be latest) Who knows - maybe an interface suxrox or functionally lacking or some other reason not to leave the proprietary drumbeat.
