Nice catch Flint and thanks for sharing! That's an amazing project

Brazil has been steadily working at implementing FOSS throughout their

It's all very cool... I *love* the up to 5 seats per physical PC idea;
really, how much CPU will a school child need? It's not likely that
they're compiling big software and need tones of resources. A very
nice
way to leverage the incredibly powerful computers we all take so much
for granted :) Now if we could open up the minds of our local
legislative and educational folks to the opportunities presented by
this
project...
Wow. That is so very cool. What wonderful news.
When the Game Industry sales exceeded those of Hollywood Box Office
sales, an amazing thing happened: people started paying attention to
the Game Industry. Likewise, I expect that when I casually mention
that 53 Million students in Brazil will be using, and learning, F/OSS
tools with KDE and Debian, my fellow educators might suddenly say,
"What? 53 Million?! students?" And they'll really start to wonder why
they're wasting money on Microsoft Licenses. Then the reality of
Proprietary will smack them in the face and they'll continue to
dismiss F/OSS--- but the seed will grow. There's usually a bellwether
event in every idea's life where the idea moves from the early-
adopter evangelizers, and crosses the line of social acceptance and
understanding. This might not be that event, but it sure bodes well
for such an event in the near future.
Yay!
have a day.yad
