You put your finger on it. Open street map itself is exciting, and also there is a meta-excitement: this kind of productive social organization is a new phenomenon. We enthusiasts have been participating in something as important to our culture as the birth of the corporation was in the last century. We can organize and achieve great things in a very low overhead way. It is easy to lose track of the big picture when a revolution slowly picks up steam during your generation. The Open Street Map preso put it right in my face again. Check out Clay Shirky's 'Here Comes Everybody'. -- Anthony Carrico http://memebeam.org/acarrico/ http://ege-inc.org/
