While I'm not part of the collective, the Crash Collective has an
interesting space in Burlington, including a small computer lab.

The space is political by design, but I think they would welcome the
emphasis on self-determination in the FOSS community.
As a side note, I spent a several days at Techshop
http://www.techshop.ws/ when I went to visit my brother in SF last fall.
Actually, it was more like a week if you count all the time on BART,
Caltrain, and hoofing it to get to Menlo Park. That was an amazing
space, and all told, it was much more of an "incubator"
rapid-prototyping space than I had imagined! Basically a fully equipped
shop for product development / hardware hacking.
