Hi, My name is Jen Mincar, I'm an IT and Web freelance project manager. I've been a freelance pm in VT for over 9 years. I've been lurking around, reading about your idea of a hackspace on this VAGUE listserv. A couple of weeks ago I had started a discussion on linkedin about something very similar. I've been calling it a "coworking" space. I have been thinking and talking to others about creating /building some sort of shared tech space in VT for over a year now because I think it's an idea who's time has come. It seems like you guys might be going in a slightly different direction( i.e. more of a pc room of sorts?), but regardless, I want to keep the discussions going. I'm glad to hear about any or all discussions on groups of technical/freelancer/entrepreneurial / home workers getting together to discuss and share what they know.
Some general information on coworking along with a listing of the hundreds of coworking locs around the world: http://wiki.coworking.info The linkedin Group that I started: The BHive - Co-working in Burlington, VT http://www.linkedin.com/e/vgh/1878468/ I'll keep lurking, and may join one of your meetups, if you don't mine. We also may have a meetup within the next couple of months too. I'll post that info out here as fyi. I don't want to steer this discussion/group any further from it's intended purpose, I just wanted you to know we existed and see if you had an interest in the coworking idea. Jen
