Contact us --> Dear Data.gov,
The new Data.gov website seems like an amazing resource with a vast supply of raw data. As a technologist I am a bit saddened by your choice to offer the data in downloadable self extracting zip files. We have been teaching users for eons not to download and run applications. Every modern operating system supports ZIP files, and every version of Windows since XP (which came out in 2002?) supports them. The self-extracting zip file is therefor redundant on all modern systems. Why make it two steps more annoying for non-Windows users? Thanks!
