Dear Julie,
Forgive my not showing up to the Vermont Code Camp. I am afraid that I
have a "touch of the old swine", really do not feel too well, and think
that passing this to VCC participants would be tacky.
Maybe next year?
Regards,
Flint

Subject: Vermont Code Camp Directions and More - It's tomorrow!
Hello Code Camp Registrants!
We are SO excited for tomorrow's big day. At the moment the registration
site says we have over 100 people registered. Who knew we could get that in
Vermont?
Although the website has been updated with current details, we wanted to
make sure you had them handy.
Below you will find directions and links to a detailed map (with building
and parking lots highlighted) as well as to the schedule.
PARKING
Parking is free and there are 3 parking areas you will find on the map.
Parking is allowed in all University lots on weekends and holidays without a
permit. Please obey posted restrictions concerning handicapped parking,
service vehicle parking and metered parking as those restrictions still
apply.
FINDING THE EVENT
We will have a registration table by the front entrance on the main floor.
The event itself will be on the lower level (yes we're in the basement) and
you will be directed there. If you arrive in the afternoon, there will be
signs leading the way but probably not a person sitting at the entrance.
REGISTRATION
The volunteers will be arriving at 7:30 to set up. Feel free to come join
us! Otherwise we plan on registration beginning at 8:15. There will be
coffee, bagels and pastries thank to Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. (They
also have job openings so if you are in the market, talk to Marlena who will
be wearing a GMCR shirt!)
WELCOME
There will be a introduction & welcome to VTCodeCamp just before the first
session begins. We're planning on doing this at 8:50. This is our chance to
publically thank everyone who has helped make this event happen and also
prepare you for the day.
SESSIONS
Most of the sessions are 75 minutes although there will be one 60 minute
slot in the afternoon. There will be three presentations running during
each session except for one special session where we will have a fourth talk
for which we are hijacking the speaker lounge.
BREAKS
There will be 15 minute breaks in between session except for two special
cases, lunch & snacks.
LUNCH
Lunch will be provided by MyWebGrocer.com. MyWebGrocer is an ever-growing
company in South Burlington and they are also hiring so look for Rob Hale if
you want to get a glowing report of what a great place it is to work! J
We'll have 45 minutes for lunch.
SNACK BREAK
Yes, kids, we will have snacktime. But it won't be juice and crackers and
you don't need to bring your blankies. J Thanks to Microsoft for providing a
much needed sugar break in the afternoon. I hear that cookies and browies
are on the menu along with veggies for you healthy geeks.
Life Support (aka Internet access and power)
For session attendees, 2 of the 3 caserooms have live, wired net ports at
each seat, and 1 of the 3 case rooms has dedicated power at each seat. Out
in the hallway, there are a lot of dedicated power and network jacks along
the wall which are freely available and unrestricted by any sort of
VPN/security requirement for use.
Wireless is restricted to UVM affiliates which means we won't have it.
RAFFLE
We will be raffling off the software licenses. The raffle will be prior to
the last session. You will be assigned a raffle # when you register at the
door and if we don't find winners at the event, we will contact you
afterwards.
AND THE FINISH
The last session will end at 6:15.
SWAG
We have gobs of swag from publishers and component vendors to give away.

OUR SPEAKERS
THANKS to our speakers! Some of them are driving a lotta miles to come here.
All for the benefit of your gratitude, a free bagel and some pizza. So be
sure to make that gratitude loud and clear!
Speakers will have name tags with a BLUE stripe.
OUR VOLUNTEERS
It doesn't just happen on its own.
Thanks to Laura Blood, Bradley Holt, Carl Lorentson, Matthew Weier
O'Phinney, Martin Stefanov, Rob Rohr and Margot Schips. Chris Pels who runs
Boston.NET and is instrumental in organizing the big Code Camp at the
Waltham Microsoft office was also a big help by providing the registration
website and responding to all of our requests to access data from there.
Special thanks to Rob Hale who has really taken the code camp bull by the
horns!
If you want to help out during the day, just let a volunteer know. Key times
will be clean up after breakfast, lunch, snacks and before we leave.
Volunteers will have name tags with a GREEN stripe.
