My step father used to be the electronics repair guy at Morrel's in
Barre, and was also the original founder of Green Mountain Micro, a
company that modded TRS-80's back in the day - he used to build MIDI
interfaces from components, and solder them into the guts of his
Trash-80s :)  He was also a regular columnist in Rainbow magazine (the
TRS-80 rag), and has Bill Gates on tape saying that no one will ever
make money selling computers from a phone interview he did, long before
Gates became the richest man on the planet :)

He's still pretty handy with a soldering iron and is a musician to boot
(he makes his living these days as an editor and New Music composer).
