HOLIDAY LETTER TO ALL OF OUR SUBSCRIBERS:

Dear readers:

We write with exciting news!

 *
Vermont Commons: Voices of Independence* has now successfully completed our
second year as *the Green Mountains’ only statewide independent multimedia
newspaper*, and we look ahead to 2010 with great excitement and
anticipation.

First, we are pleased to welcome two new members to our editorial board for
2010, two individuals with the wisdom, foresight and visionary thinking to
help lead us into this next year.

Longtime journalist, filmmaker, and citizen activist *Robin Lloyd* of
Burlington.

Vermont Sustainable Exchange founder and local currency expert *Amy Kirscher
* of Burlington.

In the midst of a global economic crisis, our plans for 2010 are ambitious.

They include:

Maintaining our news journal’s bi-monthly statewide reach, with 10,000
copies being distributed in more than 200 locations around Vermont. *Our
goal is to bring Vermonters a fresh look at the power of re-localizing our
communities around food, energy, agriculture, education, and the arts, as
well as exploring the radical proposition that Vermont might best govern
itself as an independent republic;***

Building our online blogging roster to more than *two dozen* voices;

Continuing to *promote the work of Vermont businesses and nonprofits who are
moving us to a more sustainable future* - our news journal would not be
possible without the generosity and partnership of all of our partners -
special thanks to all of them this holiday season!;

Publishing ongoing drafts of a *nonpartisan Vermont Independence
platform*to help shape our collective thinking as a state moving
forward.
*

To do all of this, we need your help.* With a $15,000 matching grant on the
table, and $10,000 more to raise, please consider supporting our publishing
efforts for 2010.

All of our writers volunteer their services, and the majority of our budget
goes to printing, postage and distribution. We believe, based on the
feedback from readers, that we’re having a positive impact on the political
landscape of Vermont and elsewhere.

*It is our hope that you’ll consider supporting revolutionary journalism to
keep us going strong in 2010.***

Feel free to *renew your subscription online and/or make a contribution in

As always, donations, advertising partnerships, and your writing,
photographs and good ideas are welcome.* ***
*
****Let’s celebrate our emerging vision of a more humane, sustainable, and
democratic future for ourselves and our children. *

Here in Vermont - and globally.

Courage!
