Getting started with Git: or, how I learned to stop worrying about revisions and love the hash.
In many ways, git represents a novel approach to the problem of source control (version control, or software configuration management). This presentation walks through the basics of using git on a daily basis, and offers some points of comparison to "other" version control systems you already know. I'll also reveal a few special git powers. The presentation will include a survey of the best git tools, and documentation, with an excursion into the world of real-time git visualization. Aside from the presentation on basic git concepts, this is a hands-on time to start using git. Bring your laptop or netbook --- wireless Internet connectivity should be available. Jonathan D. P. Ferguson will present. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, 7-9pm Champlain College Global Business Technology Center (aka S.D.
