Hi All,
hope the blender presentation went smoothly, sorry I missed it.
I just picked up an Asusul30vt-x1 from Amazon for $650:
http://www.amazon.com/UL30Vt-X1-Light-13-3-Inch-Laptop-Battery/dp/B002XZLURC
It's a pretty sweet machine: dual core, under 4 pounds, 13.3" screen.
Debian testing installed fairly smoothly. Had to install one wireless
driver that didn't self identify.
I'm having a problem with the HDMI port and output to a big external
screen (viewsonic VX2739wm) that I had to get to go with the laptop ;-).
I'm OK if I use the VGA port off laptop and can hit the correct
resolution for the external monitor, but the resolution is bad: fuzzy
and shadowy (gives me a headache after hours of work). I'm pretty sure
I've hit the 1920x1080 resolution correctly. I've heard the HDMI cable
will give a lot better results. It should, they're pricey enough!
When I plug in the HDMI cable I get nuthin' on the same monitor that was
OK w/ the VGA cable.
There's a couple of issues here:
* laptop has dual graphics cards
* HDMI is totally untested
* No special mods have been installed to recognize special hardware
What steps would folks recommend to troubleshoot? I think a new Xorg log
file gets gets generated for each connection to the external monitor.
Thanx.
